Radiology Technician

Position Overview :
Akicita Federal is seeking a skilled Radiology Technician to support clinical radiology services at the Santa Fe Indian Health Center. The technician will perform a wide range of radiologic procedures including X-ray, JVN (Joslin Vision Network), and mammography. The candidate must be proficient in RPMS (Resource Patient Management System) and ensure high-quality imaging while maintaining strict compliance with patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform routine and specialized radiographic, JVN, and mammography procedures for patients of all ages, adhering to DHHS, IHS, and community standards.
- Explain imaging procedures clearly, position patients accurately, and calibrate imaging equipment for optimal exposures.
- Ensure timely transmission of digital images to radiologists for interpretation and make necessary amendments to substandard images to avoid patient recall.
- Maintain and operate all radiology equipment; perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with vendors or biomedical teams for complex repairs.
- Manage the mammography program including QC requirements, result notifications, imaging data transfers, and risk assessments (e.g., Tyler Cuzick model).
- Schedule patient exams, maintain detailed logs, and document all procedures and reports accurately into RPMS and related systems.
- Participate in AAAHC and FDA inspections and support compliance with all federal and departmental regulatory standards.
- Ensure patient safety through consistent use of radiation protection principles (ALARA), universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with medical staff at SFIHC and affiliated clinics to ensure the appropriateness and timeliness of diagnostic studies.
- Submit imaging results, maintain accurate patient records (including Bi-RADS reporting), and assist with GPRA compliance tasks.
- Provide professional, courteous service and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of exam areas, stock supplies, and adhere to equipment-use policies.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior on duty; avoid misuse of government equipment or work time.
- Maintain current CPR certification and any required state or national licenses.
Qualifications :
Education : Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Certification : ARRT certification required; Mammography certification preferred
Licensure : Must hold and maintain a valid state license (if applicable)
Experience : Minimum of 2 years' experience in radiologic technology including mammography and / or JVN preferred
Technical Skills : Proficient in RPMS, PACS, and electronic health records (EHR) systems
Other Requirements :

Workdays : Monday FridayWork Hours : 8 : 00 AM 7 : 00 PMBreaks : Two 15-minute breaks (morning and afternoon) and one 30-minute lunch break per clinic day, in accordance with -Department of Labor regulations.$70,000 - $80,000 a year
