Visual Designer, Contract Job at Datadog in New York

Overview

Datadog’s new suite of products empower teams to code, ship, and quickly gather user insights—all within minutes. Built to be intuitive and accessible, these tools make it easy for users to ship code, analyze data, visualize user flows, and monitor end to end experiences, helping them make smarter, faster, data-driven decisions.

We’re looking for a Visual Designer to contribute to the shaping of new visual directions at Datadog. You’ll have the opportunity to define how the product looks and feels, while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to bring that vision to life. This role will focus on pushing the visual craft, polish, and consistency of our product UI to the next level, ensuring it resonates with our audience and stands out in the market.

You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional team of product designers, working closely with PMs and engineers. You’ll craft a product experience that’s polished, cohesive, and distinctive.

What You’ll Do

• Advance the visual craft, while staying grounded in the established UX framework.
• Polish and refine existing UI components to elevate clarity, visual cohesion, and consistency across the product
• Design high-quality visual artifacts including illustrations, icons, visual systems, and states for micro-interactions
• Collaborate with product designers to align visual updates with UX goals
• Work outside the boundaries of Datadog’s current design system while contributing new visual patterns and refinements where appropriate
• Ensure visuals are accessible, scalable, and production-ready
• Partner with engineering to support implementation and maintain visual quality
• Align with the broader design org on visual standards and contribute to best practices for visual design at Datadog
