The BPN Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems.

Principal Job Functions :
\n\n
\n\n
\n\t
- Performs clinic reception including greeting patients, patient registration and answering the telephone.
\n\t
Prepares patient for x-ray; explains procedures to patient and / or family; prepares room, equipment and materials as needed.\n\t
Positions patient and arranges immobilization and support devices for patient.\n\t
Practices radiation protection / safety techniques to limit exposure to patient and medical staff.\n\t
Adjusts equipment controls; determines proper voltage and exposure time; administers routine x-ray exams.\n\t
Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual occurrences to physician.\n\t
Documents procedure performed in patient record.\n\t
Maintains CD library of x-rays taken; retrieves and logs x-rays requested or copies made for patients or referring physicians.\n\t
Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment; maintains inventory and orders x-ray supplies.\n\t
Performs x-ray quality assurance tests and maintains x-ray quality assurance records.\n\t
Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation; completes follow-up of x-ray transmission with phone call; ensures hard copy of report is given to physician for review and notation.\n\t
Reports any problems with x-ray equipment promptly to physician; notifies Office Supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as directed.\n\t
Turns in personal radiology exposure badges for evaluation as required by state law.\n

Education and Experience :
\n\n
\n\n
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technologist program required. Current certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
