Construction Project Manager

Our team is a diverse and nimble group that manages Apple's retail stores, workplaces, and workplace services. We develop and manage Apple's global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide outstanding facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of all Apple facilities, including commute and renewable energy programs, and do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world. As part of our Places Construction team, you'll play a significant role in transforming spaces into functional corporate offices and product development centers. We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Project Manager to own the end-to-end delivery of our key capital projects, including the delivery of high-design workplaces and technically complex laboratory fit-outs. This role requires a unique blend of skillsthe ability to implement an elevated design vision with meticulous attention to detail, deep technical expertise, and strong project management discipline.
As the Construction Project Manager, you will be the key point of contact for project delivery to partners and leadership, responsible for taking projects from initial concept through design, construction, commissioning, and final handover. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives on coordinating with a diverse group of stakeholdersincluding executive leadership, internal cross-functional partners, architects, engineers, and general contractorsto deliver inspiring and functional spaces on time and within budget.
Responsibilities :
- PROJECT PLANNING & STRATEGY (Pre-Construction) : Lead the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and key stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies. Drive the selection and procurement process for architects, engineers, general contractors, and other critical vendors. Translate scientific and operational requirements from end-users (e.g., R&D teams) into actionable design and construction criteria.
- DESIGN & ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT : Oversee the design development process, ensuring the architectural vision is maintained while meeting all functional, technical, and budgetary requirements. Act as the primary liaison between the design team and internal partners to facilitate decision-making and approvals. Coordinate and review complex MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and process utility designs crucial for laboratory environments (e.g., specialized HVAC, process gases, RO / DI water, tooling and hookup of equipment). Lead value engineering efforts to optimize cost without compromising design intent or lab functionality. Manage all permitting and regulatory approval processes with local authorities.
- CONSTRUCTION & EXECUTION : Provide on-site leadership and oversight of all construction activities, serving as the owner's representative. Rigorously lead the project budget, tracking all costs, processing invoices, and forecasting expenditures. Proactively handle the project schedule, identifying and resolving issues that could cause delays. Implement uncompromising standards for quality, safety, and craftsmanship, befitting a high-design and technical environment. Manage the change order process, evaluating legitimacy, negotiating costs, and securing approvals. Conduct regular project meetings and provide clear, consistent progress reports to all stakeholders.
- CLOSEOUT & HANDOVER : Develop and manage a detailed handover plan for completed projects, building systems, and equipment. Oversee the creation and completion of punch lists to ensure a flawless final product. Coordinate final inspections, occupancy permits, and the successful handover of the facility to the end-users. Ensure the compilation and delivery of all project documentation, including as-built drawings, warranties, and O&M manuals. Manage the financial closeout of the project, including final payments and reconciliation.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.8 years of progressive experience in project management, with a strong portfolio of completed complex construction projects.Proven track record managing the fit-out of technical spaces such as labs and research facilities.Deep experience with the full project lifecycle, from programming and design through commissioning and closeout.Deep experience in managing project financials, including budget creation, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting on projects of significant value.Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, Bluebeam) and standard office software.Preferred Qualifications :
