Job Summary

The Area Transportation Supervisor oversees supply chain, driver, and fleet management to ensure cost-effectiveness, safety, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing truck routes, logistics relationships, budgets, and supporting market expansion. They recruit, train, and evaluate drivers, ensure HR and DOT compliance, and manage fleet maintenance and cost-effective programs.

Supply Chain Management :

  • Manage protocols for creating truck routes to ensure cost-effectiveness, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers to ensure that goods are loaded and delivered on time, ensuring retail stores have a consistent supply of product.
  • Manage the budget for assigned locations, including vehicle maintenance and repair costs, fuel expenses, and employee salaries and benefits.
  • Support the company's strategic goals of expanding the Detroit market.
  • Oversee driver and fleet technology to optimize usage and ensure the company is achieving maximum value from all tools, resulting in improved efficiency, productivity, and cost savings.

Driver Management :

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of drivers, ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to operate safely and efficiently.
  • Provide constructive feedback on performance to all personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Fulfill Human Resources responsibilities and drive initiatives within the facility, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • Conduct investigations into driver performance, property damage incidents, and other employee matters, ensuring appropriate resolutions.
  • Complete and deliver comprehensive employee reviews, providing meaningful feedback and setting development goals.
  • Manage performance metrics and tools to evaluate driver efficiency, safety, and service.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations for the company fleet.
  • Train and manage Head Drivers to work with drivers and fleet vehicles in accordance with company guidelines and policies.
  • Fleet Management :

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for the management of the company fleet, including vehicle maintenance and repair, driver safety training, and fuel management.
  • Collaborate with local maintenance shops to ensure that all vehicles receive timely and accurate service.
  • Implement cost-effective programs for fueling, tolls, and permitting for the company fleet.
  • Ensure compliance of safety programs and training sessions for all drivers. Ultimately improving safety performance and driving down accident and insurance rates.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (a plus).
  • Have 6+ years of management experience in driver management, fleet management and logistics.
  • Experience in last mile or direct to consumer trucking operation.
  • Demonstrate strong exposure to process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.
  • Exhibit excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Display excellent communication, management, coaching, and organization skills.
  • Be self-directed, with the ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change.
  • Be comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Possess project management skills.
  • Exhibit a willingness to take on new challenges and additional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate accountability and ownership, initiative, and leadership skills.
  • Show proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present solutions clearly and effectively.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to Red White & Blue locations in the states of : Michigan and Pennsylvania

  • Balance and Agility : Capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow,
  • slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks.
  • Visual Acuity : Possesses clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Footwear : Required to wear closed-toe shoes for safety purposes.
  • Repetitive Tasks : The job involves regular repetitive motions.
