American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a telemetry position on a night shift, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and a WV or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an acute care hospital on a 20-bed telemetry unit with all private roomsPatient population includes cardiac cases such as post-cath, post-STEMI, NSTEMI, elevated troponin, pacers, and occasional oncology or post-surgical patientsPatient ratios are 1 : 5-6 for day and night shiftsUses Phillips cardiac monitors and Epic EMRNight shift hours are 7 : 00 pm – 7 : 30 am with every other weekend requiredPotential for floating to overflow telemetry or Ortho / MedSurg as neededHoliday coverage may be required based on unit needsCharge nurse support may be shared or sequential, with house supervisor back-upNurses must read and document telemetry strips every 4 hours in the patient chartMust be comfortable with cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Labetalol, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Heparin, Integrilin, and Nitro by set rateNo IV team—nurses must start and manage their own IVsRespiratory therapy and pharmacy support are available onsite 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs required, with navy or white jackets and natural hair color enforced; tasteful tattoos must be coveredPotential for block scheduling if arranged in contractUnit orientation ranges from 1-2 shifts depending on experienceHoliday assignments are based on unit need; director aims to minimize holiday shifts for travelers but coverage may be required\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in WV or compact state requiredMinimum of 2 years recent acute care telemetry experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association requiredPrevious permanent employees and travelers must have a 2-year break from WVU facilities before considerationCandidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleSuccessful completion of EKG testing required for considerationExperience with Epic EMR and Phillips cardiac monitors preferredFirst-time travelers welcome\n Benefits\n
