Summary of Position
As an Industrial Simulation Developer at OTTO By Rockwell Automation, you will create and run simulations to optimize robot fleets and system solutions. You will lead modeling and simulation projects as a subject matter expert within the Industrial Simulation and Analytics Services (ISA) team, consulting with customers and coordinating with Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Project Management, and other stakeholders. You will build material flow strategies for products in our portfolio and for new developments. The goal is to develop accurate and robust simulations to evaluate design, reduce risk, and enhance solution effectiveness. This is a remote-based role and reports to the Simulation and Analysis Services Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Creating discrete event simulations for material handling systems to establish equipment, layout and operation requirements; identify bottlenecks and assess performance
- Consulting with project leads, sales team members, and customers to understand requirements and gather inputs
- Analyzing results and recommending facility layout and material flow design
- Presenting simulation results to engineers, sales teams, and clients
- Validating models against real-world data to ensure accuracy relative to the product portfolio
- Troubleshooting simulation issues and bugs
- Growing and improving the simulation library and internal templates for functionality, accuracy, scalability, and efficiency
- Interacting with the development team to assess the impact of new features or products
- Recommending product feature and improvement ideas to Product and Engineering teams to enhance real-world system optimization
- Developing simulation models to assist Sales & Marketing in demonstrating company products and capabilities
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant fieldLegal authorization to work in Canada or the US. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening.Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experienceProven success executing simulation projects to evaluate feasibility of facility or process design, mitigate deployment risks, and identify operational opportunitiesAbility to propose, test, and communicate industrial engineering principles to support feasibility and improvementsExperience with discrete event simulation tools (preference for Simio and / or Emulate3D)Strong questioning mindset to ensure end users gain value; ability to align goals and scope earlyExperience collaborating with cross-functional and external client teams for data collection and model developmentAbility to communicate model functionality and assumptions clearly to clients or internal teamsCustomer-first mindsetSelf-learner mentalityAbility to adapt to changing project priorities and scopesBonus Points
