Job Summary :

The Specimen Processing Pre-Analytical Assistant provides essential support to the Technical Operations Department by handling, preparing, and processing laboratory specimens for testing. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all pre-analytical functions. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards within a clinical laboratory setting.

Shift Details :

2 Openings : 2nd Shift (Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 p.m. – 3 : 00 a.m.)

1 Opening : 3rd Shift (Monday–Friday, 10 : 00 p.m. – 6 : 00 a.m.)

Key Responsibilities :

Sort, rack, and transport specimens to designated laboratory areas.

Perform centrifugation, aliquoting , and specimen storage following established protocols.

Identify and resolve specimen-related issues, such as missing or incorrect information, to ensure timely processing.

Maintain compliance with laboratory regulations and test ordering policies .

Assist in maintaining inventory and cleanliness of workstations according to 5S workplace standards .

Operate laboratory sorters and other equipment as trained, including archive mode when needed.

Complete documentation accurately and within assigned deadlines.

Support departmental needs during weekends, holidays, or overtime shifts when required.

Maintain a strong focus on safety and adherence to biohazard handling protocols .

Required Experience :

High School Diploma or GED required.

Medical or laboratory background preferred , including familiarity with medical terminology.

Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment strongly preferred.

Knowledge of specimen types, handling, and compliance regulations.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail.

Physical Requirements & Environment :

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.

May lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver carts / racks containing specimens.

Exposure to biohazard materials while adhering to strict safety standards.

Works in a temperature-controlled clinical laboratory with moderate noise.
