Overview

Senior Instrumentation & Controls Technician - Orbital Launch Site role at Blue Origin. The team at New Glenn's Orbital Launch Site is driven by safety and teamwork, alongside unparalleled execution and leadership. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. At LC-36, you will play a crucial role in historic missions and partner with a galaxy-class team that drives New Glenn to new heights.

In this role, you will be responsible for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and controls used in various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of a world class launch facility. Your daily responsibilities will include pulling and routing cabling, terminating, and activation of systems, with a safe working knowledge of hazardous locations and work practices therein. You will be an appreciated team member where opportunities to improve processes, simplify, or introduce a technological advantage will be valued. You will directly work with design engineers taking ownership and delivering results. A flexible work schedule with the ability to support OT including weekend work to support business needs is required.

Position Details

Shift : Monday - Thursday (6 : 00am - 4 : 30pm), Location : Space Coast, FL, Relocation : Available

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation and controls for spaceflight systems.
  • Pull and route cabling, terminate connections, and activate systems.
  • Maintain safe working practices in hazardous locations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to deliver results and improve processes.
  • Support flexible scheduling, including overtime and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of instrumentation experience in aerospace, industrial, or oil and gas fields
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to read, understand, and use technical manuals
  • Mechanical aptitude, use of hand tools, and safe working practices
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at medium heights, climb ladders / stairs
  • Familiar with PLCs, installing and troubleshooting instrumentation (valve positioners, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and other electronics)
  • Ability to work well in a team and also be a self-starter
  • Pre-job planning and attention to detail
  • Desired

  • 10+ years of experience building / maintaining launch pads
  • Knowledge of propellants, hazardous materials and related classifications, NEC, and UL 508a
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, telescopic boom lifts
  • Associate degree in electronics or a technical field
