Role Overview :

This role is responsible for participating in preventative maintenance and / or maintenance repair work at the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). You will follow general instructions and standard practices of the trade. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Location :

This position is located in INDOT's LaPorte District.

Salary :

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $18.00 an hour.

A Day in the Life :

The essential elements of the job duties :

• Oversees the work of outside contractors, making sure assigned work is completed appropriately and as scheduled, as well as in a safe and efficient manner
• Identifies, makes recommendations to the proper parties, and takes appropriate action to ensure timely correction of maintenance issues / problems at all district facilities
• Oversees operation and maintenance of the facility and / or buildings to minimize the interruption of service to various operations
• Assists in ensuring that the facility and grounds are in a constant state of survey readiness from a maintenance perspective
• Initiates repair parts order requests, recommends items for inventory stock, and monitors use
• Provides service and repairs to various facilities motors, panels, transformers, lighting systems, brine systems deer burners, lift stations, propane dispensers
• Performs support work with / for other crafts / trades
• Installs commercial doors and hardware

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
