Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our manufacturing operations team. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to support production through maintenance, repair, and process optimization.
The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC troubleshooting, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical control systems, as well as the ability to lead maintenance efforts, train others, and support new equipment installations and overhauls.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform major overhauls on all production and non-production mechanical and electrical equipment.
Access and monitor PLCs for troubleshooting and basic logic adjustments.
Diagnose and repair electrical controls including hot runner systems, thermolators, and barrel heaters.
Calibrate electrical and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
Identify potential mechanical or electrical issues by monitoring equipment operation, sound, and performance.
Repair, rebuild, and maintain multistage hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, valves, and cylinders.
Troubleshoot and repair ultrasonic welders (generators, relays, cables, boosters, and horns).
Perform mechanical and electrical PM tasks, including lubrication, filter changes, and inspections.
Utilities & System Operations
Bring all plant utilities online for production start-up, including cooling towers, air compressors, and dryers.
Install, maintain, and repair existing electrical and mechanical utilities throughout the facility.
Understand plant utility systems and their points of origin (air, water, power, hydraulics).
Ensure proper operation of fire pump systems, sprinkler risers, alarms, and emergency generators.
Electrical Systems
Perform electrical repairs on receptacles, lighting, fuses, coils, and heater circuits.
Wire motor starters, heater circuits, and verify 3-phase motor rotation.
Diagnose and replace control boards, power supplies, servo drives, and amplifiers.
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and facility drawings.
Use meters and amp clamps to check voltage, current, and circuit integrity.
Robotics & Automation
Diagnose and repair robotic systems, including adjusting and resetting robot point programming.
Troubleshoot servo motors, drives, and frequency drive systems.
Work within control panels on KPM and injection mold machines to repair wiring, breakers, and control components.
Mechanical Systems
Perform equipment installations, including setup, leveling, and anchoring.
Adjust and synchronize multi-cylinder operations and sensor circuits.
Repair and rebuild adhesive spray systems, pneumatic screw guns, vacuum lines, and air regulators.
Troubleshoot and repair hot melt and water jet systems, including booster pumps and check valve assemblies.
Operate welding and cutting equipment (MIG, TIG, stick, acetylene torch) and overhead cranes.
Offload new equipment safely and ensure proper connection of conduit, air, and cooling lines.
Leadership & Documentation
Train and guide other technicians on proper repair procedures and safe work practices.
Perform group leader responsibilities in their absence.
Generate accurate work orders, parts requests, and repair documentation.
Support engineering and production with continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, controls, or engineering technician roles within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Hands-on experience with PLC systems (Siemens or Allen-Bradley preferred).
Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
Skilled in troubleshooting servo motors, drives, robotics, and control systems.
Proficient with metric measurement, torque application, and precision calibration.
Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Must provide basic tools (screwdrivers, hammer, adjustable wrench, etc.).
Safety-focused with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience
Experience in injection molding, automation, or robotics-based manufacturing.
Familiarity with KPM systems and hot runner temperature control.
Background in Manufacturing 4.0 / IIoT technologies or advanced process diagnostics.
Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field.
Preferred Shifts :
2nd Shift : 2 : 00pm-10 : 30pm ($1.00 shift premium)
3rd Shift : 10 : 00pm-6 : 30am ($1.00 shift premium)
