Overview
Civil Engineering Department Manager : Life Sciences – Cary, North Carolina. Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Department Manager to grow our life sciences sector in the Cary, NC area. This role leads a civil engineering team through conception to construction and provides mentorship across projects of varying size and complexity.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of civil engineers and support staff across project lifecycles from concept through construction.
- Represent and guide the civil team during design and construction; mentor team members on projects of all sizes.
- Work directly with clients and other managers; apply knowledge of land development, zoning, building codes, best practices, and construction detailing to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support permitting processes and construction activities; coordinate with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants.
- Balance multiple priorities, manage quality checks, and supervise the work of other design professionals.
- Operate in a hybrid environment with remote teamwork across geographic locations.
- U.S. Citizenship requirement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET accredited engineering school.Minimum of 15 years of applicable professional experience.Professional Engineering license in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.Experience organizing and leading a civil engineering / landscape architecture team through project execution processes (Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, Construction Support).Advanced knowledge of design, construction documentation, construction administration, materials and methods, and land development, zoning, and building codes.Experience with NPDES.Ability to balance interdisciplinary work and supervise other design professionals.Experience performing construction administration activities (RFIs, submittals, field observation reports, punch lists).Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with teams in different locations.Excellent prioritization and collaboration across engineering disciplines and consultants.United States Citizen.Preferred Qualifications
Focus on Life Sciences projects including Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, and Light Chemical.Proficiency in 3-D visualization tools such as SketchUp.Site planning and land development experience.Familiarity with LEED and sustainable strategies.Proficiency in StormCAD and PondPack.Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or MicroStation), Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoTURN.Please note : This position is Hybrid and will require in-office presence at least 3 days a week in Cary, North Carolina.
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range : $140,800.00 / yr - $215,000.00 / yrThe base salary range is provided for salary transparency; actual pay is based on skills and experience.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
