Certifications : AHA BLS, ASCP or AMT certification or equivalent

Must-Have : Blood bank experience, experience collecting newborn screening specimens, Cerner experience, pediatric experience

Description :

A Phlebotomist serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens.

Prepares specimens for laboratory testing.

Performs screening procedures.

Nights 11 p.m. to 7 : 30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Responsible for collecting requested laboratory samples from patients.

Performs routine laboratory testing on samples as directed.

Assists in charting, filing, typing, and other routine clerical duties.

Submits and receives specimens and reports to laboratories as needed.

Cleans work area and maintains the appearance of the laboratory.

Monitors stock and supplies and orders as needed.

Assists in preparing special reports.

Participates in quality improvement activities and reports.

Adheres to professional and ethical standards.

Maintains verifiable records according to retention policies that meet or exceed regulations.

Maintains confidentiality of any patient information received, unless authorized by law.

Complies with applicable state and federal regulations regarding security, safety, and confidentiality of health service records.
