Job Title : Sr / Lead Accountant Energy Efficiency Programs

Requisition ID : ACC0022

Department : Corporate Accounting Kansas City Headquarters or Topeka General Office

Location : Kansas City, MO Topeka, KS

Pay Range : Sr Energy Efficiency Programs Acct : $81,800 - $109,100 Lead Energy Efficiency Programs Acct : $96,300 - $128,400

Scheduled Work Hours : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m. (Additional hours as required)

Summary : Evergy's accounting department is looking for an experienced accountant for its energy efficiency programs. This role performs month end close duties, prepares monthly variance analysis, prepares various internal and external reports, and supports the regulatory and rate-making process for energy efficiency programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Accounting for energy efficiency programs

Includes making monthly journal entries for invoice accruals, performing calculations to record monthly activity, and account reconciliations

  • Budgeting and forecasting for energy efficiency programs

    • Prepare annual budget and monthly forecast for energy efficiency programs utilizing data from multiple sources

  • Reporting for energy efficiency programs

    • Prepare monthly actual and budget variance analysis

  • Prepare monthly reports for program costs and savings
  • Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory reports
  • Prepare rate case schedules as needed
  • Demand Side Investment Mechanism (DSIM) & Kansas Energy Efficiency Investment Act (KEEIA) Rider Rates

    • Calculate the DSIM tariff rates & Energy Efficiency Rider (EER) tariff rates according to regulatory requirements and deadlines

  • Provide assistance drafting testimony for the DSIM and EER rider updates
  • Respond to data requests timely & accurately
  • Communicate effectively with outside stakeholders

    • Qualifications

    Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience in accounting or finance
  • Must possess advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Experience / knowledge in ERP systems
  • Preferred qualifications include utility industry experience and PeopleSoft experience

  • Ability to learn regulatory accounting and regulatory mechanisms if not already known

    • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and / or Testing Required : None

    Working Conditions : Office environment with both in office and remote working conditions. Currently in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays with option to work remote Mondays and Fridays.
