Overview
Test Engineer, Radar Systems – RF / microwave domain. This role is part of Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII-MTD) and supports total systems analysis, test planning, integration, verification and validation, risk assessment, and test asset utilization in an agile environment. The position focuses on RF / microwave systems architecture, antenna design, frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, tests RF and / or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits, or products including antenna design (reflector and array systems), frequency synthesizers, transmitters and receivers.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability analyses for total systems.
- Conduct functional and timeline analyses and apply testing philosophies and methodologies within an agile testing environment.
- Employ test assets to meet customer-driven test objectives and support HITL test setups and data acquisition hardware / instrumentation.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years with a Master's; or 0 years with a PhD / JD; or equivalent combination of education and experience (including High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years relevant experience).Self-starter with ability to deliver with minimal supervision and maintain communication with peers and management.Ability to negotiate resource conflicts and manage time effectively.Experience setting up and supporting HITL test equipment and customer test setups, interfacing with data acquisition hardware / instrumentation.Develop requirements for HITL build-up and customer needs; familiarity with RF and electronic test equipment.Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to bend / reach as needed.Willingness to travel for extended periods (deployment 2–3 weeks typically). Minimum Secret clearance to start; ability to obtain and maintain TS / SCI w / enhanced security checks.Preferred Requirements
RF chain analysis and radar system performance analysis; experience across test execution domains including lab facilities with algorithms, software, hardware, and networking.Support for technical publications and development of test plans, procedures, and reports; contribute to risk identification and mitigation through leadership.Physical Requirements
May require work in office, industrial, shipboard, or lab environments. Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces, and endure extreme temperature variances.
