Nursing Supervisor

Join the premier senior living community in the Fox Cities! Brewster Village is looking for dedicated and compassionate caregivers who want to work in a team-based environment, where person-directed living is our top priority. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, the Nursing Supervisor supervises and directs the activities of Brewster Village staff.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Monitors compliance with facility policies and procedures, and federal and state regulations.
  • Responds to emergencies on all neighborhoods.
  • Assists with the training of new employees; in-services employees as required.
  • Investigates villager and employee accidents and incidents; completes reports as required.
  • Evaluates, supervises, and provides direct villager care assisting with medications, treatments, and villager assessments when necessary.
  • Reports infections to Infection Control Nurse, and implements precautions as necessary.
  • Provides knowledge and direction to staff in all households, assures that the households have needed resources.
  • Ensures that all households participate in Quality Improvement and that appropriate follow up is taken to assure quality outcomes.
  • Performs audits and observations to confirm the competency of all household staff.
  • Promotes empowerment of the team in providing villager-centered care.
  • Monitors team members performance and provides feedback through coaching and counseling.
  • Keeps the overall function of the household running smoothly.
  • Provides leadership and vision to the neighborhood by serving as a role model, including collaborating with others.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and functional environment by assessing the household for potential hazards and ensures that staff are engaging in safe work practices.
  • Implements practices utilizing appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, fire safety, disaster preparedness, and emergency care.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime / extra hours as needed.
  • Participates as a member of Quality Improvement committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education / certifications / experience requirements :

  • Registered Nurse, with three to five years nursing experience.
  • Previous Nursing Leadership experience preferred.
  • Or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must maintain current certification in adult CPR.
  • This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
  • Required or preferred skills :

  • Ability to assign, supervise, and review the work of others.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of documents including lab, radiology, special evaluation, and other reports, physician orders, policy and procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of documents including supervisor, incident, and other reports, performance evaluations, employee schedules, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nursing and other facility staff, residents and their families, and others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to assure that federal, state, and local laws as well as accepted professional standards and principles of professional organization, boards, and councils are followed.
  • Ability to see person-centered care as an important component in providing villagers with a sense of health and well being.
  • Ability to understand the importance of modeling positive attitudes and behaviors.
  • It is required that any applicant and / or employee inform the facility immediately if their license is revoked, suspended, and / or under investigation.
