Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Advanced Electro-Optical Systems (AEOS) Engineering Department in Albuquerque, NM. The AEOS Engineering Department designs, builds, and operates state-of-the-art electro-optical systems including active Electro-Optical (EO) technologies for critical national security missions. This Senior Engineering Manager will set the strategy, lead execution, and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of 100+ engineers and managers. You will define the technical vision, develop people and processes, and ensure our programs deliver mission-ready systems on-time with first time quality. You'll partner closely with customers, program leadership, senior technologists, and cross-functional Boeing teams.

Position Responsibilities :

• Lead and develop a diverse team of engineers and first-line managers working across electro-optical systems, active EO technologies, sensors, algorithms, and integration / test.
• Set strategy and roadmaps for AEOS capabilities; translate mission needs into executable plans, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
• Establish and improve engineering processes, tools, and metrics that drive technical excellence, on-contract performance, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical oversight of architectures, designs, analyses, integration / test plans, and verification / validation activities.
• Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders; represent AEOS in technical and program reviews and executive briefings.
• Acquire and allocate resources; ensure training, skills development, and readiness to execute statements of work.
• Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe culture where employees feel empowered to raise safety, quality, and schedule concerns early.
• Champion career growth, mentoring, succession planning, and talent pipelines; attract and retain top engineering talent.

Summary pay range : $178,500 - $241,500
