Join to apply for the UXO Tech I role at AECOM . AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented UXO Technician I for remote employment in Kuwait City. Qualified candidates must be available to start onboarding for this assignment on November 3, 2025. Deployment to Kuwait will happen shortly after that and will require completion of pre-hire support activities (drug screen, background check, etc) by mid-October 2025.
Responsibilities
- Assists in performing reconnaissance and classification of UXO. Identifies U.S. and foreign guided missiles, bombs and bomb fuzes, projectiles and projectile fuzes, grenades and grenade fuzes, rockets and rocket fuzes, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnic items, military explosives, and demolition materials. Performs location of subsurface UXO using military and / or civilian magnetometers.
- Assists in performing excavation procedures on buried UXO.
- Performs operator maintenance of military and / or civilian magnetometers.
- Locates surface UXO using visual means.
- Assists in transporting and storing UXO and demolition materials.
- Assists in preparing non-electric firing systems for UXO disposal operations.
- Prepares electric firing systems for UXO disposal operations disposing of ammunition / explosives by burning, and disposing of ammunition / explosives by detonation.
Qualifications
High school diplomaCurrent driver's license. The position requires using an AECOM provided vehicle and / or personal vehicle for AECOM company business.Must have valid US Passport through 11 / 2026Pass pre-employment drug screenParticipate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty exam in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120. This position is contingent upon passing a Fit for Duty exam by receiving a medically "qualified" fit for duty result letter indicating the employee is medically "qualified" to conduct work activities at the job site.40-hour HAZWOPERCurrent 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher (if applicable)Due to the nature of this project, US Citizenship is requiredIn accordance with Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP-18), a UXO Technician I shall meet the following minimum qualifications : Graduate of a military EOD assistant course; or an accredited UXO technician training course; or military EOD school of the US, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia. On-the-job training including familiarity with the process, procedures, and equipment (e.g., geophysical) used for conducting MEC-related activities.Additional Information
Relocation assistance is not available for this position, however, travel and per diem will be provided.This position will require a Motor Vehicle Record Screening.Performs a variety of routine tasks and works under close supervision.Entry-level position; may not require previous experienceCompensation : USD 45 - USD 50 per hour.
