The BIM Technician in the Electrical Engineering Department is responsible for developing, modifying, and managing Building Information Modeling (BIM) models for electrical systems. This role supports engineers and designers by creating detailed 3D models, coordinating with other disciplines, and ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain accurate 3D BIM models for electrical systems using Autodesk Revit and other BIM software.Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, and mechanical teams to avoid conflicts.Perform clash detection and resolve design issues in collaboration with engineers and other trades.Create detailed electrical layouts, including conduit routing, lighting plans, and panel schedules.Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, BIM execution plans).Assist in developing and implementing BIM workflows and best practices.Update and manage BIM files, families, and templates to improve efficiency.Support project teams in extracting 2D drawings and schedules from 3D models.Requirements & Qualifications
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM-related software.Understanding of electrical systems, layouts, and construction documentation.Experience with clash detection tools and coordination processes.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.Portfolio
