About The Role :
As Director of Accounting at Commonwealth, you’ll be at the forefront of revolutionizing sports finance and allowing every fan to become an owner. A key hire on our finance team, this role is ideal for an ambitious accounting leader with a startup mindset. You will make a significant impact on the success of the company, working closely with the founding team, with an expectation you share your ideas and make your voice heard. This role will stretch you as an accountant, requiring you to be an internal entrepreneur within product and growth / customer retention. Expectation of growth into Controller as Commonwealth scales.
In This Role You Will :
- Own accounting functions - financial reporting, transaction management, SEC reporting, treasury, and annual audit for Commonwealth and issuers
- Design scalable financial infrastructure - build accounting and treasury systems that can flex across multiple sports, issuers, and asset classes.
- State and federal tax, reporting, and compliance filings - across multiple business entities, ensuring all financial, tax, and reporting obligations are met
- AP operations - invoice processing, payments, and reconciliation for 30+ entities
- Cross-vertical enablement - ensure financial processes (audits, tax, treasury) adapt seamlessly to new verticals in NIL, athletes, teams, and other sports
- Integrate fintech automation - implement tools for distributions, financial reporting, and tax documentation to reduce manual intervention.
