Safety And Training Manager

Develop, plans, organizes, coordinates, implements and monitors SMTXU safety and job-related training programs and operations within to provide expertise in program elements for the organization; and to perform a variety of professional and technical level tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Provides technical direction for all regulatory compliance and safety requirements related to electric, water and wastewater. Assist managers and supervisors with staff training, job site safety audits, and provides input for staff evaluations as they relate to safety and work procedures. Drafts, reviews and revises safety related processes and procedures.

Provides direction regarding safety requirements :

• Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for coordinating and monitoring safety and training; implements policies and procedures.
• Consult directly with supervisor to interpret and assist in compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
• Coordinates all SMTXU safety activities; and prepares safety information for dissemination to department employees.
• Engages in strategic planning and tactical execution of safety and operational protocols and initiatives.
• Develops best practices related to safety, environmental and work-related activities.
• Participates in the development, review, and revision of SMTXU switching and lock out tag out procedures.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions :

Physical requirements include lifting to 50 pounds occasionally. Subject to sitting, handling, fine dexterity, hearing and talking; vision frequently; reaching occasionally; standing, walking, lifting, caring, pushing / pulling, and bending occasionally. Position does require field site visits requiring the ability to navigate uneven terrain. Working conditions involve work inside / outside during all types of weather, including extreme temperatures.
