Tradesworker Wastewater Infrastructure
The Lee County Utilities Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tradesworker Wastewater Infrastructure to join our team. This position involves advanced technical and trades work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of wastewater system components, including but not limited to : gravity sewer piping, sewer force mains, manholes, valves, pumping stations, and electrical control panels.
As a Tradesworker, you will demonstrate proficiency in a specialized trade, operate a variety of equipment, and may serve in a leadership capacity within your crew. This is a great opportunity to grow your career while supporting critical infrastructure for your community.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Troubleshoot electrical control panels using multimeters, amp probes, and megohm meters.
- Set up and operate mobile and heavy equipment, such as :
- Generators
- Vacuum trucks
- Pumper trucks
- Dump trucks
- Small tools
- Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations on wastewater system infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair sewer valves, pumps, force mains, and piping systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions at sewer pump stations.
- Perform general maintenance at pump station sites (e.g., mowing, weed eating, painting, and landscaping).
- Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
- Climb ladders and scaffolding; work in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions.
Education, Experience, Licensing :
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.Minimum six (6) months of relevant experience in public utilities or related fields such as :Wastewater or water systemsNatural gasPlumbingElectricalIrrigationTelecommunications installationLicensing Requirements :
Valid Class E Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.Must possess a Florida Class A Commercial Learner's Permit with Tanker Endorsement prior to receiving a job offer.Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire.The Utilities Department will provide training, equipment, and cover all associated costs to help you obtain your CDL.
Additional Requirements :
This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and / or 382.Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under minimal supervision.Supplemental Information :
