Job Summary : Position Overview :
- The CAD Support / Administrator in VMC operations is responsible for managing and supporting CAD software and related systems that underpin Vertical Machining Center processes.
- This role ensures the efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CAD tools critical for design, programming, and machining workflows, supporting engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing accuracy and productivity.
Key Responsibilities :
Administer and maintain CAD software environments used for VMC programming and design, including installation, upgrades, and license management.Provide technical support for CAD applications, troubleshooting issues, and resolve user problems to minimize downtime in machining operations.Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of CAD data into VMC workflows and CAM systems.Manage CAD data libraries, templates, and standards to promote consistency and accuracy across all machining projects.Support and implement CAD-related projects to improve VMC programming efficiency and system functionality.Conduct training and guidance for end-users on CAD applications related to VMC design and machining preparation.Maintain documentation for CAD processes, software configurations, and user support protocols.Collaborate with vendors and service providers for timely updates, software patches, and technical escalations.Required Skills and Qualifications :
Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) with experience in operations supporting machining or manufacturing.Strong understanding of VMC machining processes and how CAD integrates with CNC programming and CAM software.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve CAD software and hardware issues effectively.Knowledge of CAD data management practices, library standardization, and version control.Excellent communication skills to liaise between engineering, production, IT teams, and vendors.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking capabilities to handle simultaneous projects and support requests.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.Prior experience in a CAD support, CAD administration, or CAD technician role within manufacturing or machining environments is advantageous.Work Environment :
Office or manufacturing site environment, working closely with engineering and production teams.
