Departmental Overview
UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) is a comprehensive college health service providing primary medical care, counseling and psychological services, and health promotion programs for students, faculty, and staff. UHS coordinates on-campus and off-campus care through a network of specialists and hospitals and manages student health insurance and workers' compensation programs. Approximately 65,000 visits occur annually across Primary Care, Urgent Care, Occupational Health and Specialty Clinics.

Responsibilities
- The LVN will function as support staff to Medical Services in multiple departments : Primary Care, Urgent Care, Travel / Immunization.
- Per physician orders or standing orders, perform phlebotomy, EKG, fit and apply orthopedic supplies, administer vaccines, and start IVs within LVN scope and with valid certification.
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, check visual acuity, and act as a patient attendant.
- Assist clinicians with bedside procedures, sterile field setup, and monitor patients during and after procedures.
- Assist with ultrasound setup and related tasks as needed; process contaminated instruments and prepare packs for sterilization per infection control guidelines.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, prioritize tasks, analyze and escalate issues related to patient care and safety, and conduct chart reviews.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate with staff, patients, community providers, and insurance representatives in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Allocate time for special program responsibilities balanced with clinic operations.
- Proficient use of electronic health records, email, word processing, tracking systems, and related patient care protocols; perform administrative tasks such as inventory management and restocking; enter IT and facilities support requests; maintain equipment maintenance calendar.
- Support patient care needs and information (referrals, lab and radiology orders, medical records, insurance verification and authorization) and respond to provider inbox messages as required.
- Assist with infection control alignment to UHS policy and participate in relevant committees or workgroups; engage in problem identification and resolution and be open to feedback.

Required Qualifications
EducationHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Completion of an accredited vocational nurse programLicenses and CertificationCurrent Vocational Nurse License

For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's Compensation & Benefits website. The University provides a compensation range for this role and will offer a salary within the posted range based on qualifications and experience. The budgeted hourly range is Step 1 $45.15 – Step 6 $49.94. This is an 80%, full-time (32 hours per week), career position eligible for UC benefits. This position is non-exempt and paid bi-weekly.
