We are seeking a RNS AND LVNS to join our team! You will be responsible for delivering high quality care to assigned clients in a residential treatment setting. You will be working in a drug and alcohol detox treatment facility.
The nurse is responsible for completing assigned nursing related services to each client and for linking clients to the physicians and to outside medical resources. They inform the clinical team about medical issues and is available for emergency medical situations. The nurse provides all services under supervision of the Program Director or Medical Director. The nurse is responsible to assist with medical and history screens, providing routine nursing care, and assisting the Program Director in overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client in coordination with the attending physician.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major course work in nursing preferred.
EXPERIENCE : A minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with an exposure to chemical dependency and / or dual diagnosed clients, preferably in an out-patient setting preferred.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION : Licensed as an LVN or RN in the appropriate state and maintains current licensure per state requirements. Maintains current CPR certification.
SKILLS / ABILITIES :
Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
Demonstrates Proficiency in Verbal and in Written Communication Skills.
Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies
Knowledge of Workplace Violence Prevention
Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program
Knowledge of Safety Management / Infection / Risk Management.
AGE SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS SERVED / RESPONSIBILITY : Adults
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS : Familiar with community resources.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS : Position requires work in a temperature-controlled environment; 80% - 90% of the time spent indoors.
Potential exposure to violent situations. Potential exposure to airborne / blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.

JOB CATEGORY UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS : Routine tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All Procedures of other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT : Gloves, masks, specialty items as needed.
POTENTIAL WORKPLACE HAZARDS : Slip and Falls, violence, potential exposure to biohazard waste.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION
1. Assist in completing the following documentation within 24 hours of the clients admission to the program : Admission Note, Nursing Assessment, Pre-Screen Testing, Health Questionnaire
2. Transcribes Physicians Orders and Implements all Medical Protocols as ordered.
3. Confers with and assists the Medical Doctor and Psychiatrist.
4. Administers TB tests and other medical tests
5. Makes appropriate referrals using referral forms.
6. Attends and participate in all in-service functions.
7. Assists with emergency situations and makes immediate referrals.
8. Provides documentation which reflects services for each client in accordance with licensure standards.
9. Maintains the Confidential nature of all clients and facility activities.
10. Maintains required Training and Continuing Education.
11. Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct.
12. Complies with all Alpha Recovery Centers Policies and Procedures.
13. Performs any other tasks outlined in accordance with California Code of Regulations.
14. Meets with clients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required.
15. Effectively communicates concerns about client health to the Program Director and follows up as necessary.
16. Under the supervision of the Program Director, assists in educating clients about health problems and medical care.
17. Facilitates medication education for new clients and for all other clients starting new medications.
18. Meets with therapists to provide information about client medical problems.
19. Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
20. Takes verbal orders from the Doctor or Medical Director, documents them in the client record, and carries them out accurately and professionally.
21. Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Doctor.
22. Participates in regular meetings with Medical Director to discuss specific client problems.
23. Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings.
24. Encourages efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
25. Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility.

27. Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills.
28. Has good work habits; gets things done in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences, is on time for scheduled shifts, and is prepared to begin work.

30. Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team.

45. Maintains safety of the physical environment.
46. Acts as the Infection Control Coordinator, compiling monthly infection control reports.
47. Provide IMS Services including the following :
48. Obtain medical histories
49. Monitor client health status to determine whether the health status warrants transfer of the patient in order to receive urgent medical care.
50. Order and review testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs.
51. Providing alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services.
52. Train staff on overseeing patient self-administered medications.
53. Treat substance abuse disorders, including detoxification.
54. Performs other assignments as requested by supervisor.
