Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on asphalt, aggregate and concrete plant equipment, including motors, conveyors, control panels, lighting, and instrumentation.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul electrical systems and components.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct issues under tight timelines.
  • Support the setup and calibration of control systems such as PLCs, motor control centers (MCCs), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Work closely with plant operators, mechanics, and other staff to ensure coordinated and efficient maintenance efforts.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, parts used, and system updates.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, codes, regulations and company policies and procedures and ensure safety compliance (MSHA, OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.).
  • Facilitate larger new electrical installation projects.

    • Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must hold a valid master electrician license or be a licensed journeyman committed to obtaining master electrician certification within a specified period.
  • 5+ years of industrial electrical experience; experience in asphalt, concrete, or aggregates industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the operation and maintenance of asphalt, crushing and concrete production plants
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents.
  • Strong decision making, and problem solving
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, work at heights, and adapt to varying weather conditions.
  • Available to travel regionally up to 75% of the time and work extended hours during the construction season.

    • Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Lift and move heavy equipment or materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Work in dusty, loud, or hot environments typical of asphalt, aggregate and concrete production facilities.
