Job Title : Software Packaging Engineer
Location : Vienna or Winchester, VA or Pensacola, FL
Hybrid : onsite 2-3 days a week
Pay Rate : Open to Both W2 and 1099 options
Position Type : Multiyear Contract
This role requires candidates with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience with EOL processes, scripting, and AD / MECM / MDT software as a Software Packaging Engineer. In addition, candidates must have at least 3 years of experience working in the US.
We are seeking a contractor to support our client's enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management Initiative. Over time, the internal software catalog has accumulated a significant number of legacy, redundant, and unsupported applications. This initiative aims to identify, assess, and retire these titles to reduce risk, cost, and complexity across the organization. The contractor will be responsible for analyzing installed software, evaluating usage and support status, and collaborating with stakeholders to plan and execute EOL strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support full lifecycle EOL software project activities
- Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams
- Manage risks, issues, and change requests
- Ensure successful decommissioning of targeted software
- Conduct environment-wide software discovery and usage analysis
- Identify unsupported, vulnerable, and redundant software titles
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to validate EOL candidates
- Document findings, decisions, and remediation plans
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry best practices
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on software lifecycle management
