Position Summary (Mission) :
The CNC Programmer is highly-skilled in programming and operating CNC machinery, mills, lathes, EDMs, grinders and secondary machines to machine tools used in the manufacturing and production of piston rings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Analyze a variety of specifications from blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize product to be made.
- Must have knowledge to lay out stock, as well as set up and operate machine tools and hand tools.
- Fit and assemble components to make, maintain, and repair tools, jigs, fixtures, bushings, collars, gages, and mold patterns.
- Compute dimensions, decide on machining to be done, plan layout and assembly operations.
- Verify the dimensions, alignments, and clearances while using measuring instruments such as dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers.
- Adapt to new methods, processes, material, and equipment.
- Record data on employee time / job card.
- Report work shortages to Manager / Supervisor.
- Recommend production efficiency and quality improvements to supervisor.
- Comply with safety regulations and ensure cleanliness in tool and die area to include all tools, benches, and machines.
- Immediately report incidents and accidents in work area.
- Participate in an environment and culture that promotes safety in the workplace.
- Attends and contributes to department and Company meetings.
- Develop constructive relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants and governmental agency representatives as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Skills & Experience Required :

(SolidWorks, Mastercam, and Fanuc languages used on 3 axis)Selection of proper tools to create geometry.Proficiency in setting optimal speed and feeds for material type, as well as cutting tools selection.Knowledge of internal combustion engines and related mechanical systems.Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.A minimum of 2-3 years experience in programming CNC, Mills, Lathes, EDM, Grinders and secondary machines or equivalent course work through a technical trade school, preferred.Willingness to work various shifts and overtime as needed.Fluent in English with comprehensive speaking, writing, spelling skills.Position subject to indoor factory conditions; heated in winter and non-air conditioned in summerMust be able to perform basic math.Basic knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Work EnvironmentThis job operates within a plant environment subject to indoor factory conditions; heated in winter and non-air conditioned in summer.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. May have to transfer product from one building to another.
Physical Demands
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds routinely and be physically capable of full range of motion as required to perform all tasks and functions as listed above.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use corrected vision, talk or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms above, at and below the waist. The position rarely involves sitting. This position will include walking long distances, moving about in a work area with bending, twisting, turning and reaching along with lifting up to 75 pounds throughout the day.
