What You'll Do
The Cannabis Pharmacist is responsible for accurately dispensing medical cannabis products, providing patient counseling, and maintaining compliance with all Connecticut DCP Medical Marijuana Program regulations and company policies. While some tasks may be performed remotely, pharmacists are required to work on-site at a dispensary for at least 8 hours per week to ensure patient safety and operational coverage.
This role may involve covering multiple dispensary locations as needed and floating between stores for pharmacy duties. Remote work is limited to administrative and verification tasks due to the need for on-site patient care and operational oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dispense medical cannabis products accurately and efficiently while verifying patient registration, physician certifications, and product appropriateness.Provide counseling to patients and caregivers on product selection, administration methods, dosage, side effects, and potential interactions.Conduct medication therapy management and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.Maintain compliance with all Connecticut DCP regulations, state laws, and company policies regarding medical cannabis operations.Oversee inventory management, including ordering, stocking, labeling, and maintaining accurate records of cannabis products and controlled substances.Participate in patient education programs and community outreach initiatives to promote safe and effective use of medical cannabis.Stay current on industry trends, cannabis pharmacology, new products, and best practices in dispensary pharmacy care.Train and mentor dispensary staff and interns as needed.Cover pharmacy responsibilities across multiple dispensaries as assigned, floating between locations when required.Remote work may be performed for certain administrative or verification tasks, but on-site presence is required for all patient-facing and dispensing duties.Other duties as assigned by management.Education & Requirements :
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.Valid pharmacist license in Connecticut.Knowledge of medical cannabis pharmacology and the Connecticut Medical Marijuana Program preferred.Previous experience in retail pharmacy or cannabis dispensary preferred.Strong understanding of patient counseling, medication management, and compliance practices.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively and provide exceptional patient and customer service.Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and multiple dispensary locations as needed.Physical Requirements :
Stand and walk for prolonged periods.Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting (up to 25 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 50 lbs with assistance).Manual dexterity for handling products, labeling, and operating POS equipment.Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to remain focused and alert in a fast-paced retail environment.Work Environment
