JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to keep the NWA Food Bank campus attractive and maintained by completing the Grounds Schedule for all NWA Food Bank properties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct and complete activities and tasks from the Grounds Schedule including but not limited to :
Mow, Edge, Blow the grounds during the growing season.
Prepare and maintain garden area, follow community garden schedules and instructions as directed.Manually water grass areas during extended dry periods and manage automatic irrigation system to keep trees and shrubs healthy.Perform preventive maintenance of and regularly maintain all grounds care equipment and tools.Perform basic landscape maintenance duties including weeding, pruning, fertilizing, pest treatment, mulching beds and tree rings.Perform daily grounds care including weeding, watering, pressure washing, blowing and trash pickup.Perform Facilities Winter Schedule including de-icing treatments and snow removal.Submits issues to supervisor as they are found.Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Follow all organizational safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.Comply with company policies and procedures.Perform other duties as assigned.Based on the essential duties listed above, this position is considered safety-sensitive and therefore all work must be performed following quality standards and established safety procedures.
EDUCATION & RELATED EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED equivalent, or pursuit of such, is required.Previous landscaping, large-scale gardening, or horticulture experience is preferred.A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to be covered under the organization's auto insurance are required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and commitment to NWAFB's mission, priorities, programs, policies, and procedures, including showing compassion and respect toward individuals experiencing food insecurity.Self-motivated, can work independently of others to complete tasks in a timely manner.Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.Capability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Ability to identify and repair or report maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions promptly.An individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment, including but not limited to front mount mower, string trimmers, blowers, tillers, tractor, skid steer, row planter, electric power washer, push lawn mower.Must be able to work from high heights on articulating booms and scissor lift equipment platforms.Physically fit and able to lift up to 80 lbs, work in a crouched position on knees for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.Good personal hygiene.Ability to read and respond to instructions, written, email, or text correspondence, and memos.Ability to take and send photos on mobile devices.
