Plant Operations Supervisor - Center City
Directly assists the Director and Plant Manager in the implementation of programs and projects established by the Department of Facilities Services. Ensures that all work activities are performed according to specifications, regulations, and standards. Ensures that all the physical as well as the human resources are maintained cost effectively and of a high quality within that region.
Provides expertise and management leadership for staff, technical plant operations and troubleshooting of hospital systems which include Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) as well as plumbing systems, vessels, piping including piped delivery of gases, liquids and steam for process and environmental systems.
Provides leadership / technical direction and resource allocation for plant operations to ensure regulatory compliance and deliver system reliability within a pre-established budget.
Manages the development and execution of assigned projects through the Craft / Projects Shop staff and trade contractors.
Leads real time data collection and analysis to provide direction to plant operations staff for activities associated with system testing, trouble shooting, discovery, maintenance / repairs, restoration, plant reconfiguration and hazardous energy control. Responsible to execute disaster recovery and contingency plans during planned and unplanned work.
Develops, engages and supervises staff by using continuous improvement technics to promote the well-being of employees with performance evaluations, technical / compliance training and coaching.
Participates with training and safety programs as established internally as well as campus wide and make those programs available to his / her employees. Responsible for staff rewards, recognition and performance improvement plans.
Establishes and maintains a preventive as well as routine maintenance schedules within the budget guidelines established for the region.
Supervises all duties and tasks necessary for the installation, repair, maintenance and alterations in his / her area of responsibility.
Provides written estimates to facilities manager as required for maintenance related work.
Follows working rules as established by the Department as well as the University and administers those rules to his / her employees.
Adjusts and reassigns employees as work load increases or decreases in order to insure a cost-effective operation.
Makes recommendations to facilities managers as to how to improve methods of operations and cost reduction ideas.
Conducts performance evaluations as required and submits to the facilities manager annually.
Maintains all work orders, for employees directly assigned to them.
Maintains all personnel records in a neat and orderly method.
Participates in job interviewing process and make formal recommendations to facilities manager.
Handles all local 830 grievances at the first step level and provides written documentation to facilities manager.
Ensures compliance with maintenance regulations.
Assists with equipment start-up, quality control verification and coordination with required staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the facilities manager.
Conducts pre-work system walk downs to verify plant configurations, hazardous energy control and contingency planning.
Education : High School Diploma or GED required.
AND Experience : 5 plus years direct working experience within the trade or craft position required. Supervisory experience with a union labor force preferred. Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
