job_description.job_card.job_descriptionPosition is in a free-standing acute inpatient pediatric psychiatric unit Patient population includes children and adolescents ages 5-18 with acute behavioral health conditions Common diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria RN night shift ratios are 1 : 13 with additional nursing support and psych techs present Floating may occur between pediatric and adult psychiatric units, with manager approval required if not comfortable floating to peds Utilizes Cerner EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system No typical lines, drains, or tubes; all patients are medically cleared before admission 12-hour night shifts from 7PM to 7AM; weekend rotation every other week Holiday coverage is required as part of the rotation Responsibilities include providing traditional medical and psychiatric care, running groups, and supporting specialized therapies such as pet therapy and community activities Will care for both voluntary and involuntary admissions in a locked facility (no forensic or inmate patients) Support includes nurse supervisor, nurse manager, house administrator, charge nurse, psych techs, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, and occupational therapist Orientation includes a week of day shifts, followed by scheduled night shifts Scrubs in any solid color are permitted as long as they are professional Facility offers free parking Expect heavy snow conditions during winter months First-time travelers are accepted for this role Active ME or compact RN license is required Current BLS certification required Minimum 1 year of behavioral health nursing experience required Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred, but not required with manager approval Experience with de-escalation techniques and physical restraints is required; chemical restraints are not used Ability to pass medications, run groups, and complete documentation Must be comfortable floating to both pediatric and adult units or seek approval if otherwise Willingness to obtain MOAB certification on site during orientation Must not have worked permanently at any Northern Light Health Hospital Perm address must be at least 100 miles South or Southwest of Bangor, ME to be eligible Flu vaccination required prior to start (medical exemptions allowed with approval) Driver's license required for consideration High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts
