The Face the Nation Broadcast Associate serves as a researcher for the show and performs broadcast administrative duties as needed. Duties include overseeing transcription download and proofreading and “clean up” process, so candidate must have excellent spelling and editing skills. Additional duties supporting the show include catering for the staff on Sundays, arranging transportation for guests, keeping track of expenses incurred for travel / catering. Must have strong grasp of social media and be able to assist with twitter and social of broadcast elements as needed. Work with producers on screening video, gathering elements for both digital and broadcast use.

The ideal candidate is a team player with exceptional organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and has the ability to both multi-task and keep a calm head under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. The ability to think and act proactively is an enormous asset.

Qualifications :

Internship or comparable experience working on a news broadcast

Bachelor’s in communications or related discipline, with strong editorial skills

Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines

Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills

An interest in Washington politics and policy, as well as a strong understanding of the three branches of government a must.

Work Schedule : This role is set with a Wednesday - Sunday schedule and is an onsite role based in our Washington, DC Bureau. There can be long hours (sometimes at the last minute) and a heavy workload given the demands of working in a deadline driven News environment.
