GENERAL SUMMARY :
Responsible for the implementation and coordination of drug control in the process of providing pharmaceutical care for patients of all ages within the Medical Center. Directly responsible for the provision of quality and timely care to the patients of the Medical Center.

8. Participates in Pharmacy Department and Medical Center quality assessment and improvement programs as requested.

17. Assists in inventory control by communication variations in pharmaceutical usage and urgent needs of pharmaceuticals to the pharmacy management staff and / or other designated personnel.

21. Participates, as requested, in Department and Medical Center programs, which evaluate the use of pharmaceuticals in the course of patient care.

23. Functions as a preceptor for pharmacy students as assigned.
24. Participates in Pharmacy Department education and training programs as requested.
25. Attends all mandatory Medical Center inservices and meetings; attends Department staff meetings as schedules permit.
26. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
1. Knowledge of hospital healthcare operations.
2. Knowledge of pharmacy operations and related technologies / devices.
3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions including computer network operations.
4. Knowledge of data management principles and practices.
5. Knowledge of medical terminology and health care intervention techniques relevant to the department.
6. Knowledge of regulatory agencies and corporate compliance requirements related to the department.
7. Ability to develop written policies and procedures, memoranda and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors.
8. Ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions and enact timely corrections working in conjunction with service personnel, department and Medical Center personnel, and physicians.
9. Ability to instruct others in computer software system usage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Entry-level degree (B. S., Pharm. D.) from a college of pharmacy required. Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred. Pharmacist licensure in the State of Nebraska required.
