Chesapeake Technologies International (CTI) is looking for a Principal Systems Engineering Advisor who will serve as the onsite senior technical leader and subject matter expert. This role provides direct technical advising to the program's Chief Engineer and program business partners while collaborating with Program Architects and Technical Leads to identify and prioritize best-in-breed solutions for mission requirements. The successful candidate will leverage extensive experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) programs, academic research environments, and multi-domain architecture to shape technical strategy and execution.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Provide expert technical advising to the program's Chief Engineer, business partners, and executive stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge technologies aligned with mission goals
• Analyze user needs to determine technical requirements and technology adoption paths
• Guide requirements refinement of conceptual designs and write detailed technical specifications
• Oversee design documentation, technical specifications, and diagrams for new and existing systems
• Represent the program at technical reviews, stakeholder engagements, and industry events
• Responsible for communicating systems architecture decisions that align with program objectives
• Adhere to SAFe processes and ceremonies, supporting scaled agile development execution
• Constructively participate in code reviews
• Promote lab best practices, network topologies, and integration standards in compliance with DoD guidelines
• Proactively and constructively advocate for improvement on behalf of the team, and yourself

Requirements

Location : This position is fully onsite and requires work to be performed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida . Remote work is not available for this role.

$225,000—$250,000 USD
