Civil Drafter / Designer

Location : Birmingham, ALÂ

We are seeking a Civil Drafter / Designer to join a collaborative civil and structural consulting team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a smaller, hands-on environment where adaptability and teamwork are key. You’ll support civil engineering projects across residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use developments, with opportunities to contribute throughout the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities :

Prepare detailed 2D CAD drawings (plans, profiles, sections, details) for contract documents following internal drafting standards.

Create 3D CAD models and renderings to display complex features or structures.

Maintain drawing files, CAD standards, and digital documentation in line with office procedures.

Prepare graphics for engineering reports, presentations, and professional documentation.

Assist with project tasks, including layout, grading, drainage, utility design, erosion control, road networks, specifications, and permitting.

Conduct field inspections and investigations as needed.

Provide guidance to technical staff on drafting standards and procedures.

Support administrative office tasks when required.

Qualifications :

Associate’s degree preferred (experience may substitute).

2+ years of drafting / design experience with emphasis on residential developments; exposure to multi-family, small / medium commercial sites, and institutional campus improvements is a plus.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.

Hands-on experience in land development, from concept through construction completion.

Knowledge of layout, grading, storm drainage design, utilities, erosion control, and permitting processes.

Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work collaboratively in a small-team environment.
