A rapidly growing law firm with a strong focus on Texas litigation and federal matters across multiple jurisdictions. The team thrives on excellence, precision, and innovation in legal writing and strategy. We are seeking an experienced and exceptional Brief Writer to take the lead on drafting and motion practice while mentoring a team of legal assistants in AI-assisted legal drafting.
Responsibilities
Draft and respond to motions, appeals, petitions, and federal complaints across multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare high-quality briefs for both state and federal court proceedings, demonstrating deep knowledge of procedural and substantive law.
Collaborate with attorneys to refine litigation strategy and ensure filings are persuasive, precise, and timely.
Train and supervise a team of 10 legal assistants to :
Draft petitions, motions, and responses using ChatGPT, Grok, and Lexis AI.
Develop consistency and efficiency in legal writing.
Achieve measurable proficiency within 120 days.
Ensure compliance with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Civil and Appellate Procedure.
Maintain the firm's high standards of professionalism, clarity, and accuracy in all written work.
Qualifications
JD required; active Texas Bar License strongly preferred.
5+ years of proven experience in legal brief writing and motion practice (state and federal).
Demonstrated success drafting appeals, petitions, and federal complaints in multiple jurisdictions.
Proficient in LexisNexis, Westlaw, and AI legal research / drafting tools.
Strong leadership and communication skills; prior experience supervising or mentoring legal staff.
Ability to manage multiple complex cases independently with minimal oversight.
Highly tech-savvy and eager to integrate AI tools into modern legal practice.
