Principal Project Manager

As a Principal Project Manager on our OMS Major Projects team, you will support the execution of large, complex EPC-@type projects within the newly formed Major Projects Group. You will focus on field implementation and operational integration, ensuring successful delivery of scopes including MMC, nuclear welding, subcontracted rigging, and alignment with outage schedules. All project management is performed in accordance with established Westinghouse policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
You will report to the Project Director, Major Projects, and be located at the Diablo Canyon Power Plant in San Luis Obispo, CA. Key responsibilities include :
- Leading field execution activities including MMC, welding, and oversight of subcontracted rigging vendors.
- Integrating detailed field scopes with outage schedules and milestones.
- Developing and managing execution plans for assigned scopes, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and risk management for field operations.
- Coordinating with engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure readiness and alignment.
- Monitoring field progress, identifying issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain performance.
- Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Serving as an important interface with the customer for field execution matters.
- Promoting teamwork across all stakeholders.
- Relocating to the project site and remaining on-site for the duration of the project.
- Closing assigned scopes by archiving work in financial, scheduling, and document management systems.
- Identifying and communicating lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline required.PMP certification preferred.7+ years of experience in field project management, ideally within the nuclear or heavy industrial sectors.Strong understanding of outage planning and execution in a regulated environment.Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary field teams.Advanced knowledge of project management principles including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and quality.Proficient in project management tools (Primavera P6, SAP, ARM) and Earned Value Management.We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200.00 to $129,000.00 per year.
