Overview
Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and manage electrical engineering and design efforts for heavy industrial facility projects. This role is ideal for a hands-on design engineer who mentors junior engineers within a collaborative, flexible environment and supports project leadership across large-scale industrial projects.
Salary Range
$150,000–$170,000 DOE + performance-based bonus
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage and lead electrical engineering and design for heavy industrial facility projects.
- Coordinate electrical designs and client requirements with other engineering disciplines.
- Direct the work of junior engineers and designers in producing construction documentation.
- Interface with vendors, client personnel, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform power system modeling and analysis using EasyPower (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash studies).
- Specify and size electrical equipment, cabling, and work with E&I designers on documentation.
- Participate in site visits and field support (average travel once a month for 2–3 days, longer during start-ups).
- Support multi-discipline projects (civil / structural, mechanical / piping, and E&I) across multiple industries, primarily pulp & paper.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.10+ years of experience as an electrical engineer in heavy industrial projects (pulp & paper, steel, cement, power, or chemical facilities).Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as required.Strong working knowledge of NFPA and NEC standards.Hands-on design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment.Experience coordinating internal teams of engineers / designers and cross-discipline coordination.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Experience in power system design, preferably with EasyPower software.Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of low and medium voltage power distribution (15KV, 5KV, 480V) and motor controls.Experience developing P&IDs in conjunction with process engineers / equipment vendors.Working knowledge of field instrumentation for industrial processes.Familiarity with DCS, PLC systems, and control system networks.Proficiency in industrial design for grounding, lighting, and cable tray layouts.Understanding of electrical & instrumentation industrial construction methods.Employment type
