Status : Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Pay Grade : C41- $35.27- $47.61

Mower County is developing an eligibility list for a dedicated and community-focused Deputy Sheriff to join our law enforcement team. In this critical public safety role, you'll patrol assigned areas, respond to emergencies, investigate criminal activity, ensure court security, and serve as a visible and respected representative of the County.

Key Responsibilities

Patrol Mower County to enforce local, state, and federal laws

Investigate crimes, collect evidence, and make arrests

Respond to calls for assistance, including medical and safety emergencies

Provide courtroom security and transport inmates

Conduct civil process operations and public education efforts

Maintain detailed incident, traffic, and investigative reports

Engage in proactive community policing and outreach

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Law Enforcement or related field

Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Minnesota POST Board

Valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License

Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Ability to maintain composure in high-stress and life-threatening situations

Physical & Environmental Demands

Must be able to lift / carry up to 80 lbs., run, climb, and restrain individuals

Work performed in varied environments and weather conditions

Exposure to hazardous materials, bodily fluids, and potentially dangerous individuals
