Salary : $20 per hour

Position Overview

As a full-time Co-occurring Recovery Coach Specialist at Amare, you will work primarily out of our St. Clair County office on the Illinois Recovery Center campus, providing vital recovery support to individuals facing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role combines recovery coaching, peer support, employment coaching, and linkage to clinical and community-based services. Ideal candidates bring strong motivational interviewing skills, lived recovery experience, and a passion for helping others achieve long-term wellness. Occasional travel to Amares other offices may be required. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved transportation of participants.

Responsibilities

  • Co-occurring Recovery Support : Provide individualized recovery coaching and peer support (approximately 50% direct service delivery), including in-person and telephone recovery support, with an emphasis on supporting individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health needs.
  • Comprehensive Assessments : Conduct in-depth assessments to identify participants needs, strengths, and barriers, emphasizing co-occurring issues.
  • Holistic Recovery Plans : Collaborate with participants to create and implement individualized recovery plans addressing both substance use and mental health recovery.
  • Employment Coaching : Support participants in seeking and maintaining employment, developing job-readiness skills, and accessing vocational training, while considering co-occurring challenges.
  • Linkage to Services : Facilitate connections to clinical services, residential treatment, healthcare, housing, and community resources.
  • Group Facilitation : Lead recovery-focused groups and educational sessions on the intersection of substance use and mental health.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate participant records and progress notes, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and standards of care.
  • Continuous Learning : Stay informed about evidence-based practices, emerging research, and best practices in co-occurring recovery.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with Amare team members, treatment providers, and community partners to deliver integrated and comprehensive support.
  • Transportation : Provide approved transportation for participants as needed (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Outreach : Build relationships with local agencies, treatment providers, and organizations to strengthen referral networks.
  • Mentorship : Coach and support interns, volunteers, and Recovery Corps members in understanding recovery support service delivery and Amares organizational culture.
  • Other Duties : Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education / Experience
  • Associate degree preferred, or equivalent experience in addiction recovery and co-occurring disorders.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, recovery support services, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of lived recovery experience, especially with co-occurring challenges, strongly preferred.
