Description :

This position involves providing nursing care for labor and delivery patients.

The nurse will be responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for labor and delivery patients, postpartum patients, and high-risk antepartum patients.

Typical procedures performed include vaginal deliveries and cesarean deliveries.

Delivery of care is through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Candidates should be flexible, friendly, and dependable.

Experience with Mom / Baby, Pediatrics, and / or NICU is preferred.

The unit is equipped with FHR monitors, fetal scalp electrodes, and utilizes electronic medical records.

The patient ratios are typically 2 : 1, and 1 : 1 with complicated patients.

The staffing matrix includes a charge nurse, Registered Nurses (RNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and sitters.

The unit consists of patient rooms, PACU rooms, triage rooms, and operating rooms.
