Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level 1 trauma and both scrub and circulate skills for a day-shift position requiring floating and weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Operating Room unit of a Level 1 trauma center
  • Schedule is five 8-hour day shifts, 6 : 30am–3 : 00pm with no block scheduling
  • Required to work every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • One 12-hour on-call shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday, either 7am–7pm or 7pm–7am
  • Mandatory floating to other Cook facilities up to 50 miles away, which may include floating outside primary competency areas using a team-based model
  • Uses Cerner for charting; EMR experience preferred
  • Scrub color is navy blue and is provided
  • Provide perioperative care including circulating and scrubbing for a wide variety of surgical cases
  • May be floated to other units or facilities as operationally required
  • Team-based model in place when floated outside primary area of competency
  • Strict compliance with documentation and lab work deadlines is mandatory
  • No requests for time off on weekends, holidays, or the day before / after a holiday will be approved
  • Maximum RTO is 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days off; no block scheduling or special requests
  • Parking is available for $2 / day with a shuttle running regularly to the worksite

    • Requirements

  • Active RN license in IL (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care OR experience
  • Level 1 trauma center experience required
  • Strong scrub and circulate skills required
  • Experience in Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required
  • Experience in Neurosurgery, Open Heart / Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, or Gynecology preferred
  • Must provide proof of COVID vaccination prior to start (booster not required)
  • Local candidates accepted if living within a 75-mile radius
