Position Title : Security Technician

Department : Security Systems / Operations

Reports To : Project Manager / Senior Technician

Location :  Multiple project sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region

Employment Type : Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Security Technician to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for the installation, programming, testing, and servicing of electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance (CCTV), video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection, intercoms, and other related security technology . The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a project team.

Key Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling and devices for security systems.

Program, configure, and commission access control systems, video surveillance cameras, VMS platforms, and intrusion detection panels .

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and service on installed systems.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system schematics to ensure accurate installation.

Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to deliver projects on schedule and within scope.

Maintain compliance with NDAA / TAA requirements, NEC codes, safety guidelines, and customer specifications .

Provide end-user training and technical support as needed.

Complete documentation, system labeling, and service reports in a timely manner.

Stay current with emerging security technologies, firmware updates, and industry certifications.

Qualifications

2+ years’ experience in security system installation and programming preferred.

Working knowledge of major platforms such as Genetec, Avigilon, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch, Lenel, DSX, DMP, or similar systems.

Experience with structured cabling, terminations (Cat5e / 6, fiber optic, coax), and rack / panel work.

Ability to read construction drawings, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.

Strong troubleshooting skills with both hardware and software.

Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP addressing, switches, PoE).

Must be comfortable working at heights, on lifts, and in various field environments.

Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation; ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Certifications (BICSI, OSHA-10 / 30, manufacturer training) a plus.

DCJS and MD Security Licenses a plus.
