Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position with PICU and IMC patient care, requiring a MD or compact RN license, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in a Pediatric ICU (PICU) with approximately 80% PICU and 20% NICU patients
  • Patient population includes congenital cardiac defects, cardiac cath recovery, respiratory diseases, DKA, surgical cases, medically fragile, and behavioral health pediatric patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, and 1 : 3 for IMC patients
  • Night shifts (4x12 hours, 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM)
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating required within the specialty, including NICU, Pediatric ED, and Pediatric Progressive Care Unit
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Manage pediatric patients with cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medically complex needs
  • Perform specialized procedures including CRRT, mechanical ventilation management, ABG interpretation, vasopressor titration, and care of tracheostomy patients
  • Travelers are required to float first within their scope of experience
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Return candidates must have at least 6 months away from the health system; former staff must be gone for 12 months before returning
  • One major holiday off may be allowed during the winter season
  • No block schedule or specific shift requests accommodated
  • Compliance modules and required testing must be completed before start
  • Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU, Peds ED, or Peds IMC experience required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Must provide 2 satisfactory references from most recent employers, including at least one supervisor or manager
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility's location
