Inside / Outside Machinist

Job Overview :

As a Shipyard Staffing Outside Machinist, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating various mechanical equipment used in the marine industry. You will work in a shipyard environment, often outdoors, and may be required to work at heights or in confined spaces. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all machinery on board ships is functioning correctly, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities :

• Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment on ships, including engines, generators, pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to determine the layout, assembly, and installation of machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with mechanical equipment and develop solutions to fix them.
• Conduct regular maintenance on machinery to ensure it is functioning correctly and to prevent breakdowns or other issues.
• Fabricate and repair parts using lathes, mills, and other machine tools.
• Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauges, to ensure that machinery is functioning within specifications.
• Operate equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery to move parts and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
