Auto Body Work Prep Pay Rate and Hours :

  • $22.65 / hr
  • Monday-Thursday 4pm-2 : 30am, OT as required

Auto Body Work Prep Job Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Auto Body Work Prep person to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing school buses for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and performing minor bodywork as needed. Your work is essential to ensure a flawless finish and high-quality repair job. The ideal candidate has experience in automotive refinishing preparation and a strong work ethic.

Auto Body Work Prep Key Responsibilities :

  • Inspect buses for surface defects and prepare them for painting.
  • Sand, mask, and clean vehicle surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Tape and cover vehicle parts not being painted.
  • Assist painters by mixing paint, moving vehicles, and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Use hand and power tools such as sanders, grinders, and buffers.
  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of prep materials and report shortages.
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians, painters, and supervisors.

    • Auto Body Work Prep Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience in auto body preparation or similar role (preferred).
  • Knowledge of sanding, masking, and minor repair techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive paint products and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

    • Auto Body Work Prep Work Environment :

  • Fast-paced, team-oriented body shop environment.
  • Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and noise—proper PPE is provided.
  • May involve occasional overtime or weekend hours based on workload.
