Associate General Counsel – Property & Casualty Insurance (Contracts Focus)
Location : Putnam, CT

We’re looking for an Associate General Counsel to join our high-performing legal team and play a key role in shaping the legal framework that supports our growth, compliance, and innovation in the Property & Casualty space.
This is a high-visibility position where your expertise in regulatory compliance, transactional work, and contract negotiation will directly influence the company’s success. You’ll work side by side with top professionals across the business — from underwriting to M&A — in a collaborative, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating environment.

Responsibilities :
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex agreements, including policy forms, vendor contracts, reinsurance agreements, and M&A documentation.
- Ensure contracts align with business goals while protecting the company from undue risk.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on regulatory issues affecting the P&C insurance space.
- Guide the company on corporate governance, licensing, and compliance with evolving state and federal regulations.
- Provide legal counsel for strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Lead or support due diligence, deal structuring, and execution.
- Identify and assess legal and business risks in transactions and operations.
- Offer practical, business-savvy legal solutions that advance company objectives.
- Partner closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, and other teams to deliver unified legal support across the organization.
- Manage relationships with outside counsel as needed.
- Stay ahead of legal trends, case law, and competitive movements within the P&C insurance market.
- Bring insights to help inform business strategy and innovation.
Requirements :
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active admission in Massachusetts.Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts and insurance-related agreements.Deep industry expertise in P&C insurance, including familiarity with carriers, MGAs, reinsurers, surplus lines, and commercial property productsAnalytical sharpness with the ability to assess risk and develop pragmatic legal solutions in a fast-moving business environment.Clear and confident communicator — both written and verbal — with a talent for simplifying complex legal issues for business partners.Organized and agile, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects with minimal oversight.
