In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individualized patient care in accordance with unit policies. You will also oversee non-RN personnel, and, when assuming the Charge Nurse role, delegate and supervise unit activities. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to assist in other nursing units depending on staff and patient needs.\n\nResponsibilities\n

  • Continuously assess the physical and psychosocial condition of patients throughout their care journey.\n
  • Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans tailored to specific patient needs, involving the patient, family, and healthcare team in the process.\n
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate the care plan effectively.\n
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the care plan, monitor patient responses, and adjust the plan as necessary, ensuring readiness for discharge.\n
  • Identify educational needs of patients and families, plan educational opportunities, and document learning outcomes.\n
  • Act as a preceptor for new staff, fostering a supportive learning environment.\n
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed.\n
  • Meet performance expectations related to customer service, teamwork, and professional development.\n
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department.\n
  • Exhibit competency in caring for neuro patients.\n
  • Demonstrate proficiency in neuro assessments and airway management techniques.\n
  • Assist during special neuro procedures and demonstrate understanding of the 'TIA' teaching program.\n
  • Perform suctioning techniques according to established policies.\n
  • Utilize specialized equipment for patient care, including those in a Halo Brace.\n
  • Understand nursing responsibilities related to ventilated patients.\n\nQualifications\n\nEducation\nGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software, including Electronic Patient Records, and able to conduct online literature searches for patient care.\n\nExperience\nN / A\n\nLicensure\nValid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.\n\nSpecial Skills\nBLS certification required.
