Summary

This position is responsible for providing quality, proficient and professional laboratory services in a critical access hospital and outpatient setting. The MLT / MLS position collects and processes specimens using appropriate technique, performs testing and verifies assay / analyzer performance. This position is responsible for testing in all of the following areas : hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine. Additional responsibilities include documentation and communication of laboratory results, and assay / analyzer maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of associate degree in a lab science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, required.
  • Qualified to work in a high complex laboratory, required.
  • Laboratory certification such as ASCP or AMT. If not certified at time of hire, must acquire certification within 12 months, required.
  • At least one year of experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process specimens using appropriate technique.
  • Perform testing and verify assay / analyzer performance.
  • Responsible for testing in any of the following areas : hematology, coagulation, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis and transfusion medicine.
  • Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately.
  • Perform and document assay / analyzer maintenance.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality per policy.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team.
